Saying Goodbye to London
The tour was over after breakfast, but that didn’t stop me from trying to cram a couple more things in before my afternoon flight home.
Initially, I had planned to walk on the canal from Camden Lock market area to Little Venice, but the practicalities got in the way.
After yesterday, I was too tired to do much in the morning, other than finish packing, which took longer than expected. I had to make room for my souvenirs!
Once I checked out of the hotel that morning, I was stuck carrying my luggage until I got to the airport. I assessed that it would have been too difficult for me to walk a long way with a heavy bag, and it wouldn’t have been enjoyable to try to take a long walk with such a burden.
So instead, I went to see 221B Baker St, and then visited the Portobello Rd street market. There were so many different wares at this market: rings that would most likely turn your fingers green, tea services, clothes, shopping totes, hats, knick knacks, decorative wall art, stamps, coins, magnets, and pins.
The very last thing I did was to take the Elizabeth line to Heathrow, which was on my list since having seen a documentary on PBS about the engineering mastery, advanced technology, dedication, and planning it took to build the Tube line.
I arrived to the airport in the afternoon for my flight back to the US! I’ll miss you, London!

Where To Next?
I would love to come back to London, but I would also really like to go to some other places. I didn’t get to see the Cotswalds, Blenheim Palace, or the Lakes, so maybe a Rick Steves’ Best of England tour is in the cards.
I also have been looking forward to seeing Paris one day, and Venice, and the Alpine countryside! There’s just so many options!
Thank you for reading my trip scrapbook. I hope you enjoyed it and that it will help you decide if London is the right destination for you.
